• Strengthen Facial Muscles for Less Wrinkles

I recently shared a story with my Sublime clients in our newsletter.

A Sublime Beauty customer, Jean, told me about her facial exercises as she was Oil Pulling each day. She noticed in the mirror she was moving her facial muscles in funny ways and improving her skin through the “exercise”. She was right – I noticed the same thing!

This took me back to the days when my mom and her friends did regular Facial Exercises (I think it was Jack Lalanne?) To a kid, it looked weird as they contorted their faces but they really had fun with it and my mom’s skin looked great throughout her life.

So that sparked me to research the subject, talking to dermatologists and some holistic doctors – and there has been more news about facial exercising recently, so it is a trending subject.

My own holistic doctor told me that men’s faces typically age better because of the movement and exercise they use in daily shaving – they pull and hold their faces, up down and across.

I had recently given a quiz to my clients asking about their biggest challenges in skincare.  I was searching for something extra in tandem with our popular and quality skincare products, to help with pesky dropping chins and jowls, lines that need more than a cream or serum….

In my research – and then personal testing – it seems that facial exercise or acupressure should be that perfect compliment to our great skincare products (plus of course, good diet, sun protection, etc.)

LESS WRINKLES AND BETTER STRUCTURE?  WHY AND HOW?

Improving the muscles under those problem area can help improve the surface skin above it.

Anatomy front view of major face muscles of a male including occipitofrontalis, procerus, masseter, orbicularis, zygomaticus, buccinator and cranial aponeurosis. There are more than 50 muscles in the face and neck, and these are the only muscles in the body connected and attached DIRECTLY to your skin!

Like the rest of your body, exercising your facial muscles will tone and firm them, adding volume to actually smooth the surface skin and reduce sag.

As I talked to different experts, it was clear that stimulation of the right facial area and muscles brings circulation, blood, tone and helps collagen production – and the muscles love the attention.

As the muscles react and strengthen and plump, skin becomes more taut and lifted over time and lines are reduced while areas firm up – from that double-chin or turkey neck, to those lines above the lips or between the eye-brows.

A number of experts, including some holistic doctors trained in acupuncture and natural life flow of the body, highly recommended ACUPRESSURE ( or to start with it!)

Some recommended a few different facial exercises. Some programs I investigated looked painful while others looked too complicated or lengthy! I tested a number of them.

HERE IS WHAT I CAME UP WITH FOR SUBLIME CUSTOMERS: THE 2 STEP PLAN + BONUS.

    1) First 30 days. A simple daily acupressure program that lightly massages underlying muscle and tones, brings blood flow and an “awakening” of the facial muscles. The results from this simple action are wonderful!  After 30 days, simply continue the easy acupressure once weekly (or twice) going forward.

    2) Once facial muscles are “awakened”, a recognized facial exercise “natural face lift” program can be started. I will have a full program from a national figure. I will post about step two (and the bonus) after I reveal it to my secret newsletter clients!

AFTER TRYING A NUMBER OF ACUPRESSURE PROGRAMS, I REALLY LIKE THE SIMPLICITY OF THIS ONE!

Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points, which stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities.

Acupuncture and Acupressure use the same pressure points and meridians, but while Acupuncture uses needles, Acupressure uses gentle-to-firm finger pressure and or massage. I like the non-invasive and even comforting feel of Acupressure.

When your Acupressure points are stimulated (you will use small round circulation massage motions on a number of pressure points), they release muscular tension, promote circulation of blood, and enhance the body’s life force energy to aid healing (including beauty & health of skin.)

Dr. Weill says: “The Chinese used acupressure points as a beauty treatment for thousands of years. An acupressure beauty treatment enhances muscle tone and increases circulation. …acupressure points improve skin condition and the tone of facial muscles and connective tissue. This can lessen the appearance of wrinkles without drugs or surgery.”

After years of pulling and stretching the skin, the connective tissue is weakened, loosening the skin while collagen production slows. Acupressure points release the flow of life energy, which improves both how you feel as well as how you look.

The downloadable book is $37, and they also give you tons of free bonus downloads.

I bought it, tested it for you, and have been doing the simple acupressure massage each day. I found it simple to understand and do with good photos showing where the acupressure points are.
